Participating in OHP (Medicaid) may not automatically qualify a child for Summer EBT. For example, if a family’s income is over the free or reduced-price meals income guidelines, the child is not automatically eligible for Summer EBT benefits. However, there are many cases where children who don’t qualify automatically may still be eligible. Families are encouraged to apply to determine their eligibility.

Separately, to be automatically eligible through SNAP or TANF, a child must be part of a household that got more than $0 in benefits for at least one month between July 1, 2024 and Sep. 3, 2025. The child must also have been school-aged (6 to 18 years old) when getting benefits.

When you apply for services you agree that your information may be shared:

To support eligibility and/or benefits
To do quality assessment and improvement activities
With federal and state agencies as required by law

The agency will not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

How Your Information Is Protected

The agency works hard to protect our website. All personal information is protected with operational, administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to ensure its confidentiality, integrity, and availability, and to prevent unauthorized access, use or disclosure.

Your Rights

You may obtain the information you’ve provided to us in a readable format. You may also request that your information be corrected. The agency will correct the information or deny your request. If your request is denied, your request and why it was turned down will be documented.

You may not use our services for anything illegal.

We take steps to make sure personal information is correct and up to date as much as possible for its intended purpose. If your personal information changes, you should let us know as soon as possible.

ODHS Text Messaging Service

Welcome to the ODHS text messaging service from the State of Oregon, Department of Human Services (ODHS). This service will allow ODHS to share important information about your case through a text message alert. By using this text messaging service, you agree to the Terms of Service stated within this document.
ODHS text messages are informational only and will not contain any personal or confidential information and are separate from the e-mail or paper notices you receive from ODHS. Types of text messages you may receive include requests for information; requests to update mailing address due to returned mail; confirmation of upcoming scheduled appointments; renewal alerts; and other helpful information and case reminders.
By providing ODHS with a cellular phone number as the head of household or authorized representative on a case, you are opting into the ODHS text messaging service. When you first receive a text message from ODHS, you will be asked to verify your phone number before you will begin to receive case alerts and reminder texts. If you change your phone number, please let ODHS know as soon as possible and re-verify by calling the Summer EBT Call Center at 1-833-ORE-SEBT (1-833-673-7328).
The ODHS text messaging service is optional, and it will not replace the e-mail or paper notices you receive from ODHS. If you do not want to receive text messages from ODHS, you can cancel this text messaging service any time by texting the word "STOP" to any text message you receive from this service. You will receive a reply text message back confirming your request to unsubscribe from the ODHS text messaging service. After this, you will no longer receive text messages from ODHS. You can choose to start receiving ODHS text messages again anytime by opting back into the ODHS text messaging service. You can opt back in by calling the Summer EBT Call Center at 1-833-ORE-SEBT (1-833-673-7328).
Message and data rates may apply when using this text messaging service. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message frequency varies. The State of Oregon, Department of Human Services is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. ODHS is not liable for any messages sent to invalid, outdated, or incorrect telephone numbers. It is your responsibility to keep your phone number updated with ODHS.
